There Are No Rules To This Thing

“People who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it.”

I live around the corner from the Benjamin Button house.

No seriously, it was filmed at 2707 Coliseum St, in the beautiful Garden District of New Orleans.  As I take my daily walks and pass that house, I remind myself of the excellent quote from the movie:

“For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing.”

You can do anything.

No you can’t walk through walls or climb Mt. Everest in a t-shirt.  But you can pick up and move to Singapore, if you really wanted.  You could start a kickball team.  You could start a family, or not.  You could ask the flight attendant for a free upgrade to first class.  You could lie on the floor of a Starbucks and start singing.

Beware of the cultural voices that tell you what “you’re supposed to do.”  Get honest with yourself about what really makes you come alive.  And do that.

There’s no good/bad, right/wrong.  Just choices.

Which ones will you make?
