You are getting obsessed.
Obsessed can be good. Get enthralled with what makes you come alive and do it with abandon.
I’m not talking about that type of obsession.
I’m talking about self-criticism.
You are criticizing yourself for not having enough “good” habits.
Yes – it’s worth optimizing your day.
But not because it’s “good.”
Because you’ll be happier!
You’ll be happier avoiding Netflix indulgence, doing a digital detox, doing hard things, getting quality sleep, not eating sugar, tackling your responsibilities, getting your inbox to zero, moving your body, etc.
“Good habits” are only “good” because they contribute to your happiness quotient.
You are obsessed with good vs. bad in a moral sense. So when you do a “bad” habit or don’t do a “good” habit, you condemn yourself.
Everything is cost benefit. Short-term and long-term.
Be playful and curious, asking yourself, how could I be happier? How could this habit benefit me? Why do this? Why not do this?
Think critically and creatively, not right vs. wrong.
The point is to be happy, not to be a good person.
Keep your eye on the prize.
