Identity

Identity is tricky.

The activities we do shape identity.
The purposes we seek shape identity.
The people we see shape identity.

In these ways, identity is free, evolving and authentic.

Identity impedes authenticity though, when group labels take priority.

Identity becomes a trap.

The sirens sing their song to lure you to the comfort of the group, in devotion to the tribe.

But deferring to the tribe sacrifices the True Self. One operates via cultural conviction, not personal conviction.

The root word of “culture” is “cult” for a reason.

It strips the choice to think.

To think is to be independent.
To think is to be authentic.
To think is to choose.

Choose identity.
