When it comes to growth, what if you focused on becoming superpowered with just a few skills?
Yes, I’ve built decent muscles dabbling in growth areas like financial intelligence, gratitude journaling, creative mindset, daily routines, Law of Attraction, and a few different healing modalities.
But what am I seeking to be extraordinary at? Empathetic communication, belief work, and parenting philosophy.
Non-Violent Communication is core to the first. A typical growth-minded person might read the book or watch the video and pick up a few things.
For me, it’s a life-long autodidactic commitment to an extraordinary level of mastery.
That’s why over almost 15 years I’ve read the book, listened to podcasts series, watched the video multiple times, and studied the feelings/need sheets to build my vocabulary and apply in everyday situations. Then, every time it’s of value (especially in real life conflict), I am actively stretching my neurology to wire synapses and add myelin to those synapses. This happens both mentally on my own as I think about the conflict and consider the other person’s feelings and needs, as well during communication itself.
Now, I’m teaching NVC to children, and I’m about to record a podcast series on it. Because teaching boosts learning.
It’s a process to climb the competency ladder to unconscious competence, but I’m maybe 50-60% of the way there.
The point is I’ve committed to going deep in this one area, and undoubtedly that depth will permeate all areas of life. For instance, I will naturally get better at connecting with women as I build this skill, even if I read 0 books about connecting with women.
My commitment to a profound level of mastery in belief work and parenting philosophy is just as strong. Every week I’m removing new beliefs in my subconscious mind to continuously unlock new levels of personal power and wholeness. And of course I’m always reading parenting books and learning and expanding in this one domain, (and have been since I was 19).
I’m passionate about all three, so I go deep in all three.
I’m not dabbling. I’m building superpowers. What are yours?
