Every time I publish a blog post I get a solid dose of satisfaction.
Why? Because I meet my need for self-expression? Yes. Because I further refine my writing skills? Sure.
But mostly? Because I create on my own accord.
No one tells me to blog. No one gives me an assignment that if uncompleted would bring me pain. No one dangles a carrot or a stick. Satisfaction is derived from pure excitement and intrinsic motivation. I am producing and expressing a tangible, unique piece of knowledge.
We often grow up waiting for instructions. We produce based on directions and expectations.
But think about it – haven’t you experienced the most joy from those projects on which you initiated from your own volition?
Create, don’t wait.
And don’t wait for permission.
