Less Typical Gratitudes

“Gratitude is a currency that we can mint for ourselves, and spend without fear of bankruptcy.”
– Fred De Witt Van Amburgh

I am grateful for the timbre of a perfectly blended oboe and clarinet
(particularly in Schubert’s “Unfinished”).
I am grateful for air, which nurtures my life and life on the planet.

I am grateful for the existence of laughter.  Laughing with others.  Babies laughing!

I am grateful that Dave Roberts was safe at second during the 2004 ALCS.
I am grateful for the invention of podcasts, which have tangibly influenced my life.
I am grateful for C Major chords played in tune.  And D Major!

I am grateful I didn’t die, that I wasn’t even injured, in an auto accident in 2013.
I am grateful Brahms wrote his 2nd Symphony, that Beethoven wrote his 7th.
I am grateful for the existence of numerous shades of numerous colors!

I am grateful that I have had the fortune to step foot in 38 states.
I am grateful for that sensation you get when you are looking forward to an exciting event.
I am grateful for pillows, and pillow fights!

I am grateful for those moments when the sun peaks through the buildings and the trees, gently taps your cheeks, warms your forehead, and soothes you with a slice of encouragement.
