The Power of Purposeful Passion

Purposeful people get things done.  Passionate people love what they do.

Which would you’d rather be?

The answer is be both.  Be balanced.  If you are heavily passionate without purpose, you dream of trips around the world without ever listing specific action items.  If you are constantly tunnel-visioned about productivity, but never stop to play with possibility, you deprive yourself of the fire, the love, and the creative excitement that fuel intrinsic motivation and inspire others.

Be the captain in command, one who can see the full ocean ahead, steer his ship calmly and specifically, revel in the beauty of the water, and dream of new and enriching adventures.

But, if I *had* to err on one side of the spectrum?  I’d choose purpose.

Maybe you don’t love what you do, but you can always zero in and focus on doing quality work with whatever is immediately in front of you.  You can always bring excellence to the table, and make it a habit.

Then, via your diligence, perhaps passion will present itself.

Put that straight jacket on, then dance.
