Depth vs. Width

I beginning to suspect that depth of knowledge is better than width of knowledge.

We grow up hearing how important it is to have a “well-rounded” education.

But why?

If you’re jumping around studying various topics (especially those in which you aren’t even interested, which means you probably aren’t deeply, authentically learning), you won’t really become an expert on anything.

You will become an expert if you follow your curiosity.  What are you curious about?  What lights you up?   What fascinates you?

What do you wonder about?

Follow your genuine, childlike inquisitiveness, and dive deep.  Become obsessed.  And master your obsession.

Then, move on to the next one.

Cheers,
Joel
