They say you’re the average of the five people who hang around most.
Let’s expand that: you’re the average of the five people who hang around, the five blogs you read, the five podcasts you listen to, the books you read, the music you listen to, the city you live in, and the Facebook posts you read.
In short, you are what you choose to consume. Information influences action.
I don’t think this process is necessarily related to tribalism or group-think. It’s more that you observe certain behaviors, hear certain statements, or interact with any outside stimuli, and your subsequent decisions are swayed.
And it’s not necessarily good or bad. It just is.
More important are two questions:
Are you choosing your stimuli, or are they choosing you?
Are your stimuli leading your life, or are you?
Live consciously.
