Government Isn’t Necessary

Government is unnecessary for humans to get the needs for safety, security, and order met.

Government police is unnecessary.
Government courts are unnecessary.
Government roads are unnecessary.

Many smart people have written on the economics of this. That’s not my point here.

Many smart people have written on the philosophy of this. That’s not my point here.

My point is psychological.

The reason we think government is necessary at all is through the unconscious conditioning we received from parents and teachers growing up (as did they, when they were kids).

This conditioning tells us to listen to the final “authority” to make sure things are safe, stable, and orderly.

Without it, it would be chaos, we’re told! But we’re not only told. It’s imprinted in our nervous systems, through this conditioning.

So when you think of the idea of a no-government world, I ask, what do you experience psycho-somatically?

Does your stomach feel uneasy? Does your sternum tighten?

A part of you may be seeking trust, comfort, and reassurance that society will be safe and stable, without any final authority.

That can’t be, can it? Humans aren’t trustworthy, right?

But why do we think that humans aren’t trustworthy?

Because, when we were children, we weren’t trusted.
We were punished and rewarded, threatened and praised (in simple terms) out of a Skinnerian behaviorist model of human development.

This resulted in the suppression, repression, and disassociation of our feelings and needs. Namely the needs for autonomy, choice, reason, respect, independence, nurturing, visibility, and empathy.

So.

It’s time for humans to heal.

Heal from the inside out, and build a society from the inside out based on trust, collaboration, respect, and unconditional love.

I’ll end my post now, because all posts must come to an end.

If this is a new concept to you (it probably is), then please don’t agree with me at first glance.
But I do invite you to notice your body, sensations, thoughts, and feelings.

Because such self-awareness, self-knowledge, and self-authenticity is the core of the core of human transformation.

Individually, and societally, too.
