Greatness is Simple

Achieving your highest potential is simple.

Want to run a marathon? Simple. Get up at 5:00 AM every day to train.
But you’ll have to say “no” to the invitation to get 9 PM drinks the night before.

Want to get rich? Simple. Put 25% of your income towards savings and assets.
But you’ll have to say “no” to that weekend getaway trip.

Want to become a minimalist? Simple. Throw away the stuff you don’t actually use or like.
But you’ll have to endure the pain of letting go of sentimental possessions.

Want to cultivate authentic relationships? Simple. Always be honest.
But you’ll have to be prepared for others to feel uncomfortable about your honesty.

Want to master a creative pursuit? Simple. Practice your craft daily.
But you’ll have to do it even when you don’t feel like it.

The good news is short term pain does not have to equate to willpower. In fact, if you’re constantly willing yourself, you’ll run out of juice fairly quickly.

Instead, connect to your “why,” connect to the person you wish to become.

Your behavior will be simple. Follow your purpose, and act daily.

Define your principles, and stand by them.

It just may be damn hard.
